Mapping the Zenú

This project is a scarf design campaign created for the Fundación Herencia Ambiental Caribe to raise awareness about the Zenú people, an Indigenous community in northern Colombia. The Zenú developed one of the most sophisticated irrigation systems in pre-colonial South America, but lost their lands to Western acquisitions and industrial agriculture.

The design is inspired by the history of the Zenú's ancestral canal networks, using simplified satellite imagery of their waterways. The foundation sells these scarves to support the visibility and advocacy of the Zenú community and its territory.
