The Clear Book
acetate, pigment, wax string
Today, as our digital ecosystems continue to grow, individuals are finding themselves lost in overstimulation. This artist's book, "The Clear Book," is a publication project that documents the same physical simulation of the digital experience, challenging the form and function of how one traditionally experiences a flip book. Each acetate page used in the publication contains content salvaged from my digital footprints, such as textile scans, bitmapped photos, and social media comments.
Using printed acetate and Japanese binding, the object offers opportunities for investigation and interaction as one slowly peals away at an ever-changing composition.
The editions were printed using textile dye and bound with embroidery thread.
These book were sold at the 2021 Books N’ Boone Design Fair.
